Parish Notes - July , 2011

Parish NotesJuly 03, 2011

Special Events…

Will Our Children Have Faith? Fr. Sean leading a class for adults (especially those who are parents) in a study of the book Almost Christian: What the Faith of Our Teenagers is Telling the American Church by Kenda Creasy Dean Sunday mornings at 9:30 a.m. in the library. We will not meet the 10th and will resume on July 17th.

We are anticipating that we may have some scholarship monies available this year for our parishioners who are college students. Please contact the parish office if you would like an application. We should know for certain what will be available in early June.

New Foyer Groups Begin in August. Foyer groups are an easy and enjoyable way for parishioners to get to know one another – especially newcomers and folks who go to different services – in an informal social setting. Once each month, over a four month period, group members meet at one another’s home or at a restaurant for a simple dinner, to get to know each other.  Each time groups are reassigned to meet new people. If you are interested, please sign up on the bulletin board near the parish office or contact Bob or Fran Beare at 731-444-1000.

Calling All Cooks - Saint Luke’s has a reputation for having some of the best cooks in Jackson as members. It is time to re-issue a cookbook showcasing our talented parishioners. This is a fairly long process to publication, so getting the recipes together quickly is vital. We (the ECW) hope to have the cookbook available for sale by October 2011 for the Calendar parties. A good cookbook needs at least 400-500 recipes to be viable. Every one of you has at least 10 favorite recipes! If you have more, feel free to submit as many as you can. Please double check amounts and directions before printing or typing. Suggestions for a name are also welcome. Send your recipes by snail mail to Donna Boren, 12 Deepwood, Jackson, TN 38305.

Other Items of Interest…
