Parish Notes • April 22, 2012
What’s happening…
Our Episcopal Youth Community (EYC) will meet today
at the church at 5:00 p.m. This group is for young people in the 7th-12th
grades.
Saints Alive! will be May 19 at the home of Phil and Peggy Bogard, 79 Woodmanor
Place, Jackson, at 6:30 p.m. What in the world is Saints Alive? At Saint Luke’s, Saints
Alive is a large gathering of adults from the parish for food, fellowship, and
fun with no other agenda. If you are new to Saint Luke’s, this is a great way
to meet others
in the parish. Please bring your favorite covered dish and join us for an evening of Christian fellowship.

Baptism Dates Ahead. The Book of Common
Prayer recommends five dates for Baptisms… The Great Vigil of Easter, Pentecost
Sunday, All Saints’ Day, The Baptism of Jesus, and when the Bishop visits.
Other dates may be scheduled, but these dates bear special significance to
Baptism on our calendar. The next services that will include Holy Baptisms will
be May 6, 2012 and the Day of Pentecost, May 27, 2012. Please
contact the Parish Office if you have someone to be Baptized.
Pictorial Directory -
The Hospitality/Membership Committee has been busy laying the groundwork for
the new PICTORIAL directory, which will be published at St. Luke’s.
Family pictures will be taken by our very own talented photographer, Mike
Booher, between services and after the 10:30 service on May 6, 13 and
20th. Families may also submit their own pictures. The photographs will
be taken in various locations around the church. It is hoped that,
weather permitting, many can be taken outdoors to take advantage of natural
lighting. You will NOT be pressed to purchase pictures. We will make the
process as quick and painless as possible. Forms for submitting contact
information will be available beginning May 6th. If your information has
not changed since the last directory, just confirm that, and no further
information will be required.
The
Madison County Imagination Library will sponsor a Community Christian Concert,
Friday, April 27th from 7:00 p.m. – 9:00 p.m. at the G.M. Savage
Memorial Chapel at Union University. Featured artists will be The Norvells,
Paula Bridges McGill, Lambuth Memorial Praise Team, Maple Springs Ladies
Ensemble, Servants Heart Quartet, The Village Messengers, Lawrence Gregory and
much more budding and blooming talent! Ticket price is $5. For more
information, please go to http://ilmctn.com or ilmctn@gmail.com.
Christian
Education for Adults…
The
Tuesday evening Bible study led
by Gene Davenport meets each week at 7:00 p.m. We are now studying 1
Corinthians, Chapter 8 and all of you are invited. The class is in discussion
formant and is not a lecture.
The Upper Room Class continues. The Upper Room Class is
viewing a new series of video lectures on archeological discoveries in the area
of Israel and Palestine. We’ll be comparing biblical stories with what the
archeological and historic records tell us about the same events. The periods
of both the Old and New Testaments will be covered.
